How to Detect and Maintain Mass Flow Meters

How to Detect and Maintain Mass Flow Meters

2022-09-02

1. Zero check (zero calibration)

Zero drift is a problem that flowmeters often encounter in actual operation: there are many factors that can cause zero drift, such as sensor installation pressure, asymmetric structure of the measuring tube, changes in the physical properties of the fluid being measured, etc. Especially in small flow measurement, zero drift can seriously affect the measurement accuracy. Therefore, it is very necessary to check and adjust the zero point regularly. Zero point checks should be performed at least every three months. If production permits, for mass flow meter installed at important monitoring points, the time interval for zero point inspection should be appropriately shortened. Whether the zero calibration is completed is the key that directly affects whether the flowmeter operates within the accuracy range.

2.Regularly observe the fault indication of the flowmeter

The display method and content of faults differ depending on the model, specification and manufacturer of the flow meter. For different fault alarm indications, you can check the product manual to determine the cause of the fault and deal with it.

3. Check the working parameters

During use of the flowmeter, one should always pay attention to whether the set operating parameters have been changed and that the displayed flow, density and temperature values are normal. If there is a big difference from the actual situation, the zero flow calibration can be performed again according to the method described in the manual. After completing the above work, if you still feel abnormal, you should check whether the working parameters set in the transmitter are correct.

4. Regular comprehensive inspection and maintenance

For the flowmeter in use, a comprehensive inspection should be carried out on a regular basis: from the appearance of the sensor, the firmness of the coriolis mass flow meter installation, the vibration of the process pipeline, the indication of the transmitter and the display instrument, etc., should be comprehensively inspected item by item, and problems should be solved in time.

5. Create a flow meter file

To ensure long-term reliable operation of the flowmeter, users should establish flowmeter documentation and document and install detailed records of each inspection, maintenance, and verification. Enter the archive for better maintenance and use in the future.

6. Maintenance for the measurement of fouling-prone fluids

When the flowmeter measures the fluids that are prone to scaling (such as scaling and waxing), the operation of the flowmeter should be checked frequently. Remove and dispose of by appropriate methods such as purging or cleaning.

7. Regular calibration

According to the different applications of the flowmeter, it should be calibrated regularly according to the requirements of the standard system.

In order to maintain the high precision and stability of the flowmeter, it is necessary to inspect and maintain the coriolis mass flow meter from time to time. Only when the flowmeter is in good condition can accurate measurement be obtained and the function of the mass flowmeter be fully utilized.
