Introduction to the Application of Mass Flowmeter in Measuring the Density of Limestone Slurry

At present, there are three main methods for measuring slurry density in domestic desulfurization systems, namely, differential pressure method,γX-ray radiation absorption measurement method, Coriolis force mass flow meter method. The Coriolis mass flowmeter measures the density of the limestone slurry in the desulfurization system because the structure of the flowmeter is similar to that of the vibrating tube density meter. The measuring tube vibrates continuously at a certain resonant frequency. Because the resonant frequency is a function of the fluid density, when fluids of different densities fill the vibrating tube, the vibrating frequency of the vibrating tube will also change. Therefore, measuring the frequency change of the vibrating tube completes the density measurement. This method is currently the mainstream measurement method for slurry density. The flow rate flowing through the medium of the mass flowmeter does not have a direct impact on the density measurement accuracy of the flowmeter, but the high-speed flow of limestone slurry has a great wear and tear on the measuring tube of the mass meter, thus affecting its service life. So try to keep the flow through the mass meter not too high in order to increase its service life and reduce costs. The specific method is that if the flow of the main pipeline is too large, the mass meter can be installed in the bypass, and the flow can be controlled through the valve. 3: Do not install directly on the outlet of the vertical vent pipe, but on the pressure side of the pump (to prevent low pressure). 4: After long-term use, the mechanical structure of the measuring tube changes due to material accumulation, wear and corrosion, and its resonance frequency has been affected by these factors, resulting in a decrease in the accuracy of density measurement. On-site re-calibration and adjustment are required. 5: Flush the pipe with clean water before stopping for a long time to prevent limestone from adhering to the measuring pipe wall or even clogging the pipe, which may cause a drop in measurement accuracy or even make it impossible to measure. The differential pressure method is an indirect measurement method, that is, the pressure difference between the slurry at different heights is measured through a differential pressure transmitter.ρ=P/gH to calculate the slurry density, whereρis the slurry density, P is the pressure measured by the differential pressure transmitter, H is a fixed distance, and g is a constant. Its main advantage is that it is cheap and does not require a separate measuring piping system. However, the measuring probe is easy to be blocked, and in serious cases, the data of the instrument will not change, and the monitoring function will be lost. In addition, the measurement accuracy is low. Deviations are caused because the density of the slurry is not uniform at every point.
