Detail the correct selection of ultrasonic flow meter probe location

Abstract: The information on the correct selection of the probe position of the ultrasonic flowmeter is provided by the excellent flowmeter and flowmeter manufacturers. When installing the ultrasonic flowmeter, it is necessary to determine the installation position, so as to better prevent the installation of the ultrasonic flowmeter from problems. If there is a problem when installing the ultrasonic flowmeter, it will be a very troublesome process. . For more flowmeter manufacturers to select models and price quotations, you are welcome to inquire. The following is an article detailing the correct selection of the probe position of the ultrasonic flowmeter. When installing the ultrasonic flowmeter, it is necessary to determine the installation position, so as to better prevent the installation of the ultrasonic flowmeter from problems. If there is a problem when installing the ultrasonic flowmeter, it will be a very troublesome process. . So everyone must be clear when installing, what should be avoided in the installation location. 1. Avoid installing the machine in places with strong magnetic fields and vibration interference, such as water pumps, high-power radio stations, and frequency conversion; 2. Select pipe sections that should be uniform and dense, and easy to transmit ultrasonic waves; 3. There must be a long enough straight pipe section upstream of the installation point The straight pipe section must be greater than 10D (note: D=diameter), and the downstream must be greater than 5D; 4. The distance between the upstream of the installation point and the pump should be 30D; 5. The fluid should be filled with the pipe. Ultrasonic flowmeter installation requirements are the easiest and most convenient among all flowmeter installations. Just select a suitable measurement point, input the pipeline parameters at the measurement point into the flowmeter, and then fix the probe on the pipeline. The two sensors must be installed in the horizontal direction of the pipe axis and in the horizontal position of the axis±Install within the range of 45o to prevent the dissatisfaction of the upper part of the tube, air bubbles or precipitation in the lower part from affecting the normal measurement of the sensor. If it cannot be installed horizontally and symmetrically due to the limitation of the installation site space, the sensor can be installed vertically or at an inclination under the condition that the upper part of the pipe is free of air bubbles. Before installing the probe, select the dense part of the pipe to install the probe. Clean the area where the probe is to be installed and remove all rust and paint. It is best to polish it with an angle grinder. Then use a clean cloth dipped in acetone or alcohol to wipe off the oil and dust, and then apply enough oil to the center of the probe and the pipe wall. During the installation of the couplant ultrasonic flowmeter, it is necessary to pay attention to the absence of air bubbles and sand between the probe and the pipe wall. On the horizontal pipe section, the probe should be installed on the horizontal axis of the pipe section to prevent possible air bubbles in the upper part of the pipe. If the probe cannot be installed horizontally and symmetrically due to the space of the installation site, the probe can be installed vertically or at an inclination under the condition that there is no air bubbles in the upper part of the tube. The distance between the probes is based on the innermost distance between the two probes. After inputting the required parameters, check the numbers displayed in the display window 25, and make the distance between the probes conform to the data in the window 25. There are four types of probe installation methods. These four methods are v method, z method, n method and w method. They are described below. Generally, when the diameter of the pipe is small (dn15~200mm), the v method can be used first; when the v method cannot detect the signal or the signal quality is poor, the z method is used. Under normal circumstances, it is the standard installation method, which is easy to use and accurate in measurement. The measurable pipe diameter ranges from 15mm to about 400mm; when installing the probe, pay attention to the horizontal alignment of the two probes, and the center line of the probe is horizontal to the axis of the pipe. When the pipeline is very thick or due to the existence of suspended solids in the liquid, the scaling on the inner wall of the pipe is too thick or the lining is too thick, the V method installation signal is weak and the machine cannot work normally, the z method should be used for installation. The reason is; when using the z method, the ultrasonic wave is transmitted directly in the pipeline without refraction (called a single sound path), and the signal attenuation is small. The z method can measure the diameter range of 100mm to 6000mm. When the flowmeter is actually installed, it is recommended that the z method should be used for pipes over 200mm (so that the measured signal is the largest). When installed, the ultrasonic beam is refracted twice in the pipe and passes through the fluid three times (three sound paths), which is suitable for measuring small diameter pipes. The n method improves the measurement accuracy by extending the ultrasonic transmission distance (not commonly used method). Like the n method, the w method also improves the measurement accuracy of the small tube by extending the ultrasonic transmission distance. Suitable for measuring small tubes below 50mm. When using the w method, the ultrasonic beam is refracted three times inside the tube and traversed through the fluid four times (four sound paths). Checking the installation refers to checking whether the probe is installed properly and whether it can receive the correct and strong enough ultrasonic signals to make the machine work normally, so as to ensure the long-term reliable operation of the machine. The optimum installation can be determined by examining the received signal strength, total transit time, time difference, and transit time ratio. The quality of the installation is directly related to the accuracy of the flow value and whether the flowmeter runs reliably for a long time. Although in most cases the measurement results can be obtained by simply coating the probe with a coupler and sticking it to the outside of the pipe wall, the following checks should be performed to ensure the best measurement results and a reliable flowmeter over time operation.
